Should I Submit?

Submitting to Authority

Introduction 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us "Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation the old has passed away, behold the new has come now."

PROCESS FOR ALL BELIEVERS

When you become a born again believer you are a new creation. You don't do what you used to do because you are new person. This is a process that all believers have to experience. It doesn't stop when you get saved. We have to continue in Christ Jesus. Isaiah 43:19 states "Because I am doing something new: now you will grow like a new plant, surely you know this true. I will even make a road in this desert, and rivers will flow through that dry land." When I gave myself to Christ, I had to go through the process of letting the old man continually die spiritually and some natural habits as well.

Know Your Place

Because of the brokenness that was in my life, it was difficult for me to trust people. I had my guard up when letting people in my life not knowing this was because I wasn't delivered from past hurts that I experienced. God gave me a man but due to my guard being up, I did not initially realize he was to be my husband. Although we got married, my hurt caused me to take on both roles as I did not trust him to do his part. I wanted to be the head of my relationship which caused me to get overwhelmed at times because I was playing both parts. Something God never called me to do. Ephesians 5:22-24 states "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband as unto the lord for the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church and he is the savior of the body." I had it all wrong and realized if I'm going to flow in obedience to God, I must obey my husband. My sisters obeying doesn't make you weak but strong in Christ. Over the years of being married, I have learned we can either come to an agreement or not; and its okay if we don't agree on everything once there is an understanding. We must always remember that God is a God of order.

Do You Trust God?

One day God told me that I had a problem trusting him. I had to really think about what he said and the reality of it. It blew my mind, I thought it was crazy, but he was telling me the truth. I grew up in a house where my mom was independent and my dad was a hard worker. I grew up thinking I didn't need to rely on anyone. I was wrong; very wrong, I needed God. We need God, he is our help and our deliverer: John 15:7 states "Stay joined together with me, and follow my teachings. If you do this, you can ask for anything you want, and it will be given to you. Show that you are my followers by producing much fruit. This will bring honor to my father. I have loved you as the father love me, now continue in my love."

Conclusion

We have to walk in the completeness of God, obey him and fully trust him. 2 timothy 1:7 tells us "God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind." What is hindering you to submit to God and walk in the full power of God? Proverbs 14:12 teaches us that "There is a way that people think is right, but it leads only to death. John 10:10 warns us that "The thief comes only to steal and destroy; I have come that they may have life ,and have it to the full.
